Step 4: Fixing a crooked kick
If you notice that you are not kicking straight or your foot curving round when kicking the ball then this training drill will help you to improve your technique and straighten out your foot when kicking.
EQUIPMENT YOU NEED:
- Sherrin Precision football
- Rope (for a straight line) or straight white markings on a court/pitch/oval
- 2x Milk bottles
FOCUS POINTS:
Follow the steps below to kick more goals successfully.
- Put two milk bottles, one either side of the white line/rope with enough space to kick through
- Keep your foot pointed when you kick
- The milk bottles will force you to kick straight through them. If your kick is crooked then you'll clip the milk bottles as you kick through and this will force you to correct your technique.
- Some people as they come in will turn their foot when they kick. This drill will then show you that this is an issue and they will need to just practice with their foot and kicking straight through.
